⚫ 소개 : 

19세기 이후 동시대에 이르는 영미시 전반, 문화 시학, 번역의 이론과 실제, 비교문학을 주로 가르치고 연구한다. 우리 시를 영어로, 영미시를 한국어로 옮기는 일에도 정성을 쏟고 있어 지금까지 번역한 한영, 영한 시집이 20권에 달한다. 사람을 살리는 말의 뿌리로 시를 공부해왔고, 대학의 미래, 시민 인문학에도 관심이 많다. 풀브라이트 연구교수, 현대영미시학회 부회장직에 이어 현재 영어영문학회 부회장을 맡고 있다.

Eun-Gwi Chung, specializes in twentieth-century poetry in English, cultural poetics, translation theory and practice, comparative literature. Her book publication from Korean into English include Bari’s Love Song (2019), Fifteen Seconds without Sorrow (2016), and The Colors of Dawn: Twentieth-Century Korean Poetry (2016), and Ah, Mouthless Things (2017). Her books of translation from English into Korean include Averno and Wild Iris by Louise Glück(2020 Nobel Prize Winner in Literature), Anne Sexton’s Selected Poems, etc. She has two essay collections 『바람이 부는 시간: 시와 함께』 (2019) and 『딸기 따러 가자: 고립과 불안을 견디게 할 지혜의 말』 (2022). As the recipient of a Fulbright senior research grant, she was the visiting professor at UC Berkeley. Now back in Seoul, she keeps walking on to be a good human being, as a professor, writer, and translator.
